Scissors on a Paper: Union

20 Oct, 2006

Union has a new RPS Grand Master in the unmistakable form of Jumanjionic!

imageFollowing the Scissors on a Paper tournament on Defiant on Tuesday, last night saw Union’s Pocket D packed with the brave, the proud and the foolhardy, all eager for their shot at fame, fortune and Rock, Paper, Scissors glory.

Held in check by DJ Zero, the vile Crater was on his best behaviour as he oversaw a fast and furious competition that pitted heroes and villains against each other in a series of increasingly tense matches. Although more restrained that their Defiant counterparts when it came to the trash talking, the Union competitors more than matched them when it came to split-second timing and high pressure decisions.

As the tournament entered its third hour, the initial 64 competitors had been whittled down to a mere 16 battle-hardened warriors. Less than 45 minutes later, a victor emerged when Jumanjionic took down Fuddeh 4 games to 2 in the final!

Having won the tournament, he then had the choice of whether or not to face Crater in a special exhibition match…

imageTaking his life in his hands, Jumanjionic bravely decided to challenge Crater’s position as Union’s RPS Grand Master. In an incredibly close match overseen by volunteer referee Eve, Jumanjionic matched Bridger’s nemesis game for game - every time Crater drew ahead, he dragged the scores back level, until the ‘first to five’ match stood at 4 games all. As the whole of Pocket D held their breath, both raised their fists for the final time - and Jumanjionic took the match!

A disbelieving Crater could only watch as Jumanjionic celebrated his victory in the way that only a 300 pound masked man wearing pink speedos can, before vowing to have his revenge… Some day.

Congratulations to Jumanjionic on becoming the new RPS Grand Master of Union, and thanks to everyone who came along and made Union’s Scissors on a Paper tournament such a great evening for all involved. If you couldn’t make it along - or were there and want to relive the action - you can download a demo recording of the evening, courtesy of Coin, in this thread on the official message boards.
